Since the start of the space age, satellites have been playing an important role in monitoring the evolution of our planet, providing crucial information to scientists and policy makers. The scope of this presentation is to give the audience a comprehensive overview of the status of our planet seen from space and the evident changes, mainly caused by human activities, up to the dramatic consequences of global warming.
Tommaso Parrinello has a degree in Physics from the University of Pavia (Italy) and a PhD in Remote Sensing from the University of Dundee (United Kingdom). He has been working for more than 25 years at the European Space Agency, covering different responsibilities from satellite operations to mission management. Currently, he is responsible for ESA’s Earth Explorers Aeolus and CryoSat missions, supervising the programmatic and technical activities of the missions and leading the relation with international scientific community.
